African American House Members in Meeting

Caption: African American House members told President Nixon that minority groups have suffered"irreparable harm"under his Administration. The 12 African American House Representatives, plus a newly elected African American nonvoting House delegate from the District of Columbia, called on Nixon for an"unequivocal commitment"to the equal rights cause. Briefing the press at the White House after the meeting are (L-R): Representatives Charles Diggs, Jr. from Michigan, Ronald Dellums from California, and Shirley Chisholm from New York. All were Democrats.
